How far has Web-to-Print really advanced?

At drupa 2008 there will be guided tours of ten specific industry themes and the Finishing Tour (5) will certainly be a particularly informative one given that the finishing of printed products is currently at the top of customers’ wish lists. It will take a look at new and upgraded machines and systems being shown by KBA, GBC, MAN Roland, Kurz, Kama, IST Metz and Heidelberg for such processes as coating, laminating, foil stamping, die-cutting and the use of holographic elements. New materials for finishing will form one focus of this Tour.

Tour 6 is devoted to the Creation of Printed Products and will look at the key tools for creatives, graphic and media designers. Visits will be made to Quark, Pantone, GMG, Esko-Artworks, Canon, X-Rite/Gretag-Macbeth and Epson. Naturally, digital workflows extending right up to digital output systems will play a role.
Tour 7, Web-to-Print will look at the essential features of automated print production. To an increasing degree, printed products are being generated via the Internet and then sent to print. This Highlights Tour will therefore offer a survey of the diverse possibilities offered by web-to-print. Technical and operator requirements from the store front through prepress to printing, finishing and logistics will be explained, and it will reveal what is new from Press Sense/That´s it, iBrams, D-Serv, Infowerk, Kinetik, Konzept-iX and Boretius.

Please remember: the number of participants per tour is limited. Don’t delay, book places now for you and your colleagues on the Highlights Tours of your choice. For info and to book, go to: www.highlightstouren.de or go to the Highllights Tour Stand in front of Hall 9.
