2012 European Digital Press Association Awards Announced
Now in its 6th year, the European Digital Press Association has grown from strength to strength - with 14 member countries representing over 1 million readers across Europe. Each year the EDP Association comes together to debate, discuss and award the best in innovative technology within the digital printing market.
The Awards are nominated by a technical committee made up of industry and digital print specialists, journalists and technical consultants and their recommendations are then discussed and voted upon at the EDP General Assembly. Although it is the Technical Committee’s responsibility to evaluate competing products and to prepare a list of nominees per category, it is the General Assembly who will finally ponder the Committee recommendations. The Technical Committee members include: Chris Cooke, Publishing Director Image Reports UK; Juan Martorell, Founder ColorinLab Color Consulting; Romeo Hutter, Editor in Chief, Publisher Switzerland; Herman Hartman, Editor in Chief Sign Pro Benelux; Steve Wicks, Owner of Greenprint Consultancy representing Drupa and Lorenzo Villa, Print Consultants.
The General Assembly has the last word in giving any Award. In the end, all EDP editors participate in the final decision on behalf of a readership of more than 1,00,000 digital print professionals making the EDP Awards and it’s recognised blue logo a most prestigious and prized accolade for any manufacturer to hold.
Chris Cooke, president of the EDP Association commented; “The 2012 awards are for products launched between March 1st 2011 and 29th February 2012 and this is probably one of the main reasons why out of 26 award categories, only 19 of them had outright winners, as many manufacturers have timed product launches to coincide with Drupa. The 19 very worthy winners have demonstrated that by listening to their customers and focusing investment in research and development they can continue to innovate to bring products to market that truly make a difference to their customers businesses and the market as a whole. We’re delighted to be working with our host Drupa in 2012 and congratulate all our winners in the 2012 awards. We would also like to thank all those that have submitted products for this year’s awards.”
The EDP Awards trophies will be presented at the Annual EDP Association Awards ceremony on the 8th of May at Drupa.
Drupa is the biggest printing trade exhibition in the world and will be held at Messe Düsseldorf 3-16 May 2012. Monika Kissing, manager, press and public relations for Drupa said: "The hosting of the EDP Awards in the 'drupacube' (Halls 7.0 and 7a) at Drupa 2012 complements perfectly the theme of using printed products for communication empowered by marketing. The criteria on which the product entries are judged for the Awards reinforce the concept of the drupacube itself; to provide a 'global showroom' for innovative applications that benefit the end user, the community, the manufacturer and the environment."
