Latest honour for Innovation in CTP technology brings royal total to eleven.

October 25, 2011 – FFEI Ltd has celebrated another Queen’s Award for Enterprise in a ceremony attended by local dignitaries and industry personalities. Honoured in the category of ‘Innovation’, this latest achievement extends a distinguished track record of Queen’s Awards for technology, innovation and business success over four decades.

The second Queen’s Award to be conferred on ‘FFEI Ltd’ adds to nine previous such distinctions achieved through legacy operations within the printing industry. These include an Award for Innovation received in 2002 while a division of FUJIFILM, as well as a series of nine Queen’s Awards for both technological and business achievements when the company operated as Crosfield Electronics Ltd.

Among just 43 businesses awarded for innovation, the latest achievement by FFEI recognises the development of an internal drum Computer-to-plate (CTP) solution specifically targeted at the requirements of commercial printing in emerging markets. The company’s innovative process of manufacture has seen FFEI violet CTP technology become market leader in India over the past two years, with over 200 installations through OEM partners Technova and FUJIFILM.

The 2011 Queen’s Award was presented on behalf of HM the Queen by the Countess of Verulam, Lord Lieutenant of the local county, Hertfordshire. The Award ceremony was attended by a number of personalities who have been significant in the heritage and ongoing success of FFEI, including John Crosfield, CBE, founder of Crosfield Electronics.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise distinguish outstanding achievement by UK businesses in the categories of Innovation, International Trade and Sustainable Development. Awards are granted on the advice of the Prime Minister, assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.
