ECRM LAUNCHES NAUTILUS 8 AT DRUPA 2012
TEWKSBURY, MA -- April 25, 2012 -- ECRM Incorporated (“ECRM Imaging Systems”) today announced that the company will be releasing the most technologically advanced 8-up platesetter in the 40-year history of the company at next month’s Drupa Print Media Fair (Dusseldorf, Germany, May 3-16). ECRM’s Nautilus 8 introduces the latest engineering advances in optical technology enabling commercial printers to produce the smallest and hardest dot on a plate. At the show, ECRM will be exhibiting in Hall 7a / Booth C09, where the company will exhibit both the Nautilus 8 and the ECRM NEWSmax high-speed newspaper platesetter. Details of Nautilus 8
Nautilus 8 is engineered to image plate formats from 2 to 8-page signatures with resolutions from 1200 dpi to 2540 dpi. With a maximum format of 37.4" x 46.0" (950mm x 1170mm), a standard speed unit produces over 18 Speedmaster 102 size plates per hour at 2400 dpi. Nautilus 8 keeps multi-press environments efficient through flexible, trouble-free performance.
Engineered for commercial quality production, the Nautilus 8 images with one of the smallest spot sizes in the industry, supporting traditional screen rulings over 200 lpi (or 350+ lpi equivalent with DM screening). ECRM’s latest innovation also:
· Employs proven ECRM violet laser technology which supports traditional, low-chem, and chemistry-free violet plate technologies;
· Offers ECRM’s vacuum-free, patent-pending plate loading and registration system for support of a wide range of plate sizes;
· Upgrade paths for increased automation and for higher speed imaging;

ECRM DM Screening Benefits
Available as a CtP RIP upgrade option for all ECRM dealers and customers, the new ECRM DM Screening image enhancement and ink savings software uses patented technology that produces superior highlight and shadow detail (1% to 99% on press), as well as greatly enhanced contrast. Users also benefit from lower ink consumption. In testing at newspapers around the world, estimated ink savings of 15% to 25% over a conventional AM screen has been achieved. For the commercial printer, the resulting print quality is equivalent to a conventional 350-400 lpi.
Compared to FM screening, ECRM DM Screening is easier to calibrate, easier to control on both plate and press, and offers smoother flat tints. DM Screening digitally modulates each and every pixel, rather than repeating a fixed pattern of dots (as in AM screening) or randomly marking pixels (as in FM screening). The result is an unprecedented quality of screening, which is easy to plate and print using ECRM platesetters.

The ECRM DPP 1200, 2-up digital press, is positioned to deliver commercial quality color for the demands of today’s commercial printer. The digital press produces high-quality business cards, flyers, inserts, brochures, magazine covers, real-estate pages and much more, while supporting line screens up to 175 lpi.
