Visitors to the ISI Graphic System stand (Hall 7.0 B09) at Drupa 2012, will be able to see the latest in Packaging prepress and proofing solutions with live demonstrations of the product range taking place throughout the course of the exhibition.
The new features in the award wining MaxPro suite of packaging prepress applications which incorporates trapping, step-and-repeat and colour conversion will also be presented.
ISI Graphic System specialises in the creation of pre-press, colour conversion and proofing software solutions developed specifically for the Packaging sector of the printing industry. The software range is in use across the industry from Design and Prepress houses through to Flexo, Gravure, Offset and Digital printing companies.
The MaxPro software suite has been developed to bridge the gap between high-end professional Prepress systems and the Desktop publishing environment. With its three core applications, MaxPro, MaxPro RIP and MaxStep, operators can quickly and efficiently create press-ready files for Digital, Offset or Packaging printing processes. Through the use of cutting-edge design and technology, MaxPro delivers a Prepress solution which is fast, easy to use and cost effective.
MaxPro has an array of Packaging focused tools to assist in the creation of final layouts, ready for imaging to plate. Utilising the latest programming techniques, MaxPro allows users to create automatic, semi automatic or manual traps to linework, contone and transparency areas. With features such as selection masks, graduated trapping and contone trapping, MaxPro provides tools and options which are unique, yet easy to use. The latest version provides a bespoke monitor calibration system which helps to faithfully reproduce spot colour rendition.
This is particularly useful when spot colors are used in image files as it allows for a correct on-screen representation of the spot color overlap. MaxPro also allows for different dot gain curves to be imported so that different press and substrate conditions can be viewed on screen, on-the-fly.
Technical colour plates such as those used for white ink or varnish can also be defined quickly and easily, using a range of user-friendly tools and options.
MaxColor has been developed to automatically reduce separations and/or convert CMYK Separations to spot colours. The resultant print uses less ink, with more vibrant colours and a better quality registration whether printing Gravure, Flexo or Offset.
When used with Digital presses, MaxColor takes advantage of any additional colors available (such as Orange, Green or Blue) to create a unique and vibrant print. Color shade libraries or individual colors, which may for example represent specific brand colours, can be introduced into MaxColor via spectrophotometer readings or by entering pre-defined values.
An internal colour engine analyses the individual ink characteristics and also the relationship between the selected colour separations. MaxColor allows for the import of CMYK or RGB Tiff files for image conversion, or MaxPro files for image and linework conversion.
Brand owners, Prepress houses and Printers can now take advantage of the expanded color gamut. Reducing print separations or converting CMYK separations to spot colors, means less ink, more vibrant colors and better registration
With Max Step, users have the ability to interactively create bespoke step and repeat layouts, or use pre-defined die cut guides to automatically generate layouts according to the requirements of the printer or converter. It fully supports industry standard formats such as CFF2 and has the ability to produce final layouts for plate or cylinder.
Silver Metallic Pro is an option within MaxPro which has been developed to produce special Ink separations, automatically and consistently. Users have the option to generate a White ink plate (for printing on silver foil, board or can) or a Silver ink plate (when printing on white substrates).
Once images are converted, an on-screen Metallic View feature enables the user to check the result while adjusting the light reflection intensity and angle to simulate the print ink and material combinations.
From a proofing perspective, attendees will have the opportunity to see how easily high-quality packaging proofs can be produced with the Star Proof and the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 combination.
Star Proof accepts Raster data in 1 Bit Tiff or Barco “Len” file formats at resolutions up to 4,000 dpi, screen rulings up to 230 lpi/80 lpcm and support for the latest High Definition Flexo screening technologies. The resultant data integral proof sets high standards in inkjet proofing with faithful reproduction of dot shape, trapping, pull-backs and overprints.
Star Proof also has several features developed specifically to meet the requirements of the Packaging industry, together with an automatic spot colour calibration system, capable of matching over 97% of the Pantone library at a Delta e of 3
Also on show will be Star Plate, a digital imaging software application, specially designed for direct inkjet imaging to plate or film with the ability to produce high quality halftone screening.

About ISI Graphic System
ISI Graphic System is a prepress professionals software company dedicated to solving difficult problems.
Today, prepress professionals have two options: high performance proprietary systems or low performance DTP systems.
The expensive systems are capable of most, if not all, electronic prepress tasks and offer a high level of productivity. However, these systems are to varying degrees, closed complex, not user-friendly and based on proprietary hardware solutions.
To fill the gap between proprietary prepress system and DTP system, Isi Graphic System prepress software offers the same functionality as high-end systems but available on the popular Macintosh platform.
