Konica Minolta excels at drupa 2012

Innovative application workflows as well as Inkjet-press KM-1 and new colour device bizhub PRESS C 1100 attract visitors

Düsseldorf/Langenhagen, May 15th, 2012
Despite a challenging market environment, Konica Minolta has already recorded 30 per cent more visitors in the first half of drupa 2012 than at drupa 2008 altogether. With the intention of providing its customers an easy path to digital, the company defines new standards by demonstrating innovative application workflows and product innovations such as the all-new digital B2 size Inkjet-press KM-1 and the all-new colour device bizhub PRESS C1100. Beyond that the Franchise Area, specially designed for customers from China and India, is of high interest.

Konica Minolta provides its customers an easy path to digital printing by enhancing printing and document solution service business and co-existence with the web – and thereby focusing on a mutual benefit. This is the objective behind Konica Minolta’s motto for the drupa 2012: “Brainpower your printing business!” The fact the company is on a right path with this intention is also demonstrated by the positive interim results: “The interest of the customers to new devices made by Konica Minolta as well as to our innovative application workflows is exceeding our expectations. After only seven days, we have already registered 30 per cent more visitors than we had registered throughout either drupa 2008 or IPEX 2010. This approves that there is a lot of demand for Konica Minolta’s new solutions”, comments Olaf Lorenz, General Manager International Marketing of Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Europe).

At the booth, Konica Minolta demonstrates innovations in the fields of hardware, applications and integrated solutions, all performing in “real-life” Production Printing applications. Packaging, Business Cards as well as Inline Pressure Seal Mailing and Transpromotional workflows are highly attracted by up to 550 prospective customers a day.

Moreover, the new Inkjet press KM-1, developed for the commercial printer sector, is of high interest. The high-speed colour inkjet press processes formats up to size B2 and a speed of 3300 sph (sheets per hour). A resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi allows for excellent print quality. Beyond that, the highly frequented new bizhub PRESS C 1100 underline the customer´s demand of a new superb-quality colour printing system on the production level for commercial printers, print-for-pay facilities and corporate CRDs.

Next to new solutions Konica Minolta also registers a high interest at its Fanchise Area. Showing typical print applications from Asia, the Franchise Area targets especially visitors from China and India with native speakers available at the booth. The complete workflow is represented, from job entry via Pcast and Photo Book software, print production on a bizhub PRESS C8000 or a bizhub PRESS C70hc, followed by a post press area.

The large number of visitors and their interest in Konica Minolta’s product range affirm the company’s strategy of evolving the production printing segment to professional printing and underlines it as a growth driver.

Socially Responsible Investment Index Recognizes Environmental, Social and Governance Initiatives

Konica Minolta Holdings, Inc. (Konica Minolta) is pleased to announce that the company has been included in the FTSE4Good Global Index by FTSE International Limited (FTSE) in the U.K., one of the best known indices in the world for socially responsible investment (SRI) communities. This is the ninth year in a row that Konica Minolta earned this recognition.

Corporations around the world are evaluated by FTSE on criteria such as environment, social and corporate governance and only those which meet strict standards are included in the index to be supplied as selection reference for investors and SRI funds with extensive interest in corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability performance. That will help investors choose to invest in companies that meet a series of globally recognized social responsibility standards.

In the most recent evaluation, Konica Minolta has been awarded with a full score in the environmental aspect, as well as high marks in the governance aspect. As the world’s first environmental labeling system, the Blue Angel certifies products and services that are particularly environment-friendly. Furthermore, several of Konica Minolta’s devices are also registered for the Energy Star, an international energy-saving program for office equipment. Beyond that, the company has also been awarded Prime Status by Germany-based oekom research AG after having been found to be among the best companies worldwide for CSR in its industry segment. Green technologies such as Konica Miolta’s Simitri HD polymerised toner, which contains biomass to reduce CO2, underline the company’s CSR strategy.

*SRI (Socially Responsible Investment): Investors and shareholders choose investment destination not only with financial aspects but also with corporate responsibilities in environmental, social and ethical aspects.
