President Craig Shields announced in late March that Graymills is taking a proactive stance on saving time, energy, materials and the environment, while also becoming more involved in community projects that fit the corporate values of effective and efficient. On the short list right now are the Greater Chicago Food Depository and donations for Bed Nets in Africa to combat malaria.
Specific goals for the company include reducing purchased energy per dollar of sales by 25% in three years, increasing the yield of sheet steel by 10% in 2012, and recycling all cans, bottles and paper by July 4th of this year. Mr. Shields is confident they can achieve these goals, as Graymills’ team of workers has stepped up to the plate to address needs over the years with substantial success.
