Proofing without paper

EAE’s workflow module Softproof is a standard electronic replacement for time-consuming and expensive hard proofs. It is used to check the content and colour adjustment of a print product on a monitor during production. The display of the print product on a calibrated proof monitor is based on ICC (International Colour Consortium) profiles. This means that the paper properties of the current production are simulated on the monitor, enabling a colour-accurate display of the printed pages.

The EAE Control Console is the central operating unit for controlling a web press. The printer can plan the production at the Control Console and load the data to the remote controlled aggregates of the web press. Different models of the control console are available. The monitors have an aspect ratio of 16:10, ensuring easy operability of the operating screens. The user interfaces of the EAE Control Console are grouped according to logical functions. All display and operating elements that have the same functions are clearly visible on a single user interface on a large 24-inch 16:10 monitor. Alternatively one can also operate a large number of functions (e.g. ink zone adjustment) using hard keys.

Cost reduction in paper consumption.

From the delivery in the print house to the connection of the axis - ReelData – the reel data management system from EAE – registers all data during the "life" of the reels in all phases. The user gains an overview over the stock of inventory as well as the consumption data while at the same time checking the quality of the delivered goods. The perfect tool to reduce the actual costs and counter the rising price for paper.

The Automatic Paper Workflow.

EAE MaFlow automates all reel transport logistics; from unloading the truck to storage in the main storage area, to fully automated and punctual positioning of the roll in the reel stand. The automation of the reel transport by EAE MaFlow even includes an automatic pasting process for the rolls. However, the user decides which degree of automation fits the printing house. In most printing houses that use MaFlow, automation of the following processes has proven practical:

With V.I.P. one can plan and visualize the entire production line in the prepress, press, and postpress area. V.I.P. stands for “Visual Intelligent Plant”. As a printing-company-wide management execution system, V.I.P. combine planning (V.I.P. dispo), reporting (V.I.P. statistic), insert management (V.I.P. Mail), and cost control (Cost) as well as personnel planning (Employ) and quality management (Quality). All the modules are com­bined in a common software solution in a uniform user interface.

For daily standard production and especially for additional print orders, V.I.P. provides support, e.g. in the planning of plate exposure and paper feed, press line utilization, wrapping, insertion, et cetera; all the way to bundling at the loading dock. The V.I.P. components are seamlessly integrated and make optimum use of all resources. V.I.P. works with open interfaces. That makes it possible to integrate both EAE systems and the produc­tion systems of other manufacturers in the order planning workflow. The integration utilizes the widely used messaging standard XML on the basis of Ifra Track and PRIME.

Production Planning / Presetting / Tracking / Reporting

Print is an independent, highly integrated system for planning production and presetting the press. Print is divided into the following system components:

• Print dispo (rotary press planning), • Print preset (rotary press presets), • Print track/report (production visualization and statistics).

Print image controls the production of printing plates – from the entry of the digital page to the output of the finished printing plate. Based on rotary press planning, Print image constantly ensures efficient plate production with optimized production times and increased production safety and quality.
