Create PDF Server is a highly automated server-based PDF creation solution. Mac, Windows and UNIX clients can print to a Create PDF printer queue which automatically creates PDF documents of any PostScript print job. Simply set up various print queues, each corresponding to a specific set of job options. This solution is able to automatically utilize multiple servers for the PDF creation, and scales from a few users to hundreds of users.

Smart ICC Color Management can color match every object within a PDF. Properly converts PDF to CMYK, with ability to detect and preserve raster and vector black, gray, white and pure CMY colors. Perfect to color-normalize PDFs. Source profiles, printer and proofer profiles and ICC rendering intents can be specified.

PDF HandShake Printing offers correct separations and composite PDF printing on any PostScript output device. PDF HandShake capabilities include printing registration marks, custom page sizes, printing always with correct fonts, conversion of embedded TrueType and CID fonts to Type 1, and more. PDF HandShake is the perfect printing solution for any PDF document. It doesn't matter if the PDF is from MS-Office, QuarkXPress or InDesign – PDF HandShake printing will always print correctly.

PDF Preflight is included, with callas pdfToolbox 5 integrated in the Create PDF printer queue and via “hot folders”.

ImageServer OPI users can place EPS low-res files, which are automatically created from PDF high-res documents. During printout, the low-res files will be replaced with the PDF high-res data and printed correctly using the PDF HandShake printing technology. Printing to a Create PDF queue produces high-res or low-res PDF of all OPI print jobs. PDF with OPI references is fully supported and printing to an OPI queue replaces all OPI references.

HELIOS PDF HandShake UB2 integrates pdfToolbox into “Create PDF” printer queues, HELIOS Script Server “watched folders”, and WebShare web-based PDF preflight. pdfToolbox allows automated server-based PDF file checks.

Server-based PDF preflight with pdfToolbox is Acrobat 6/7/8/9/X preflight compatible. It checks PDF files according to PDF 1.2 - 1.7 and PDF/X specifications. Test profiles customized and approved in Acrobat can be exported and stored on the server. The fully automated check is done on the PDF HandShake server so no additional Acrobat workstation is required. Over 600 test characteristics can be defined and combined in preflight test profiles. Over 40 industry-standard profiles are included to allow a quick start. They can be customized to meet precise needs.

Flexible PDF Preflight Reports are available as text, XML, and HTML files, or as an annotated PDF indicating areas with errors or warnings.

pdfToolbox is compatible with any PDF documents of the PDF 1.2 - 1.7 and PDF/X-3 specifications. Even the most complex PDF files are efficiently checked, including “Form XObjects”. Compared to other solutions, pdfToolbox never modifies the original PDF files when checking them, which preserves job ticket and XMP meta data. Validates and creates PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-3, PDF/X-4, PDF/A-1a, PDF/A-1b.

PDF standard corrections can automatically be performed by PDF HandShake Print and “Create PDF Server” to fix problems such as minimum hairline size, preserve black, convert TrueType and CID fonts to Type 1, recognize and correctly convert RGB defined white, gray and black objects, and perform ICC-based color conversion for the printing process.

Certified Softproof & Annotations for PDF, Images and Office documents via WebShare

HELIOS PrintPreview UB2is a versatile content and color proofing solution offering a certified softproof, hardproof and annotation workflow for documents and images that is easy to use within a web browser, throughout the design, review, and production process.

FograCert certifled softproof confirms accurate proofs simulating the Fogra39 printing process on a proofing monitor. The certification of the entire solution includes monitor, software, measurement devices, ICC profiling and the viewing lightbox.

IPA RoundUp hardproof confirms excellent color matching quality simulating the GRACoL printing process. HELIOS passed all 24 IPA RoundUP tests using a mainstream inkjet printer. Printing is supported from the web browser to local printer, no RIP needed.

Annotation Workflow allows hierarchical discussions with different users (e.g. staff, partners, customers), reviewing PDFs, images and Office documents throughout the production process. Annotations across multiple document versions are supported.

Sophisticated Color Rendering is performed on the server and an ICC color-matched RGB page is presented as a softproof or hardproof within the web browser. It provides accurate proofs, with features such as in-RIP separations, and support for transparencies, overprint, shadings, DeviceN and spot colors.

PrintPreview extends HELIOS WebShare with these proofing and annotation capabilities. In addition, PrintPreview can generate proofs of any print job, in your local network, acting as a virtual printer, and saving the rendered proof pages into a PDF.
