Plate Automation
15.02.2012
NELA offers a multitude of products and solutions for pre-press automation, with our proven register punching and bending systems being part of a comprehensive system integration. From plate transport systems and sortation stackers to fully automatic plate elevators and transportation to the press – NELA’s product range includes everything that modern print facilities need for plate production. The vision of an almost unmanned operation becomes reality: NELA has realized the “handshake” between pre-press and press.
PageTracking: The NELA PageTracking software was developed for fully automatic surveillance of the printing plate production. An imaged barcode is required on all plates.
StatusCenter: NELA StatusCenter controls and visualizes all activities of the entire plate processing line. Status changes and error messages are immediately displayed on the user interface. System and process data can be viewed and stored.
FanOut Compensation: The fully automatic FanOut and register compensation is needed to compensate mechanical tolerances on the press cylinders as well as correct the physical characteristics of different types of paper.
PlateFlow: The NELA PlateFlow software was specifi cally designed for the NELA LogiStack plate management system and allows for fully automatic connection of the pre-press department with the press control system. Each print job can be surveyed and released in one single system.
PlateSorting: With the PlateSorting software, printing plates can be automatically sorted according to color or press cylinder, for example, and stored in the NELA sortation stacker. A barcode containing the required sorting criteria must therefore be imaged on each plate.
PGate: PGate makes sure that in multiple line-systems, each individual plate is transferred to the right punch and bend device. For example, all four plates of one color set can be conveyed to the same punch/bender. When different punching and bending configurations are used, PGate makes certain that each plate reaches the correct punch/bender. Plates are identifi ed via an imaged barcode.
