Fusion Cross - BÖWE SYSTEC is re-inventing inserting

Industry experts approaching drupa stand D23 in hall 6 of the Messe Düsseldorf grounds will surmise at a glance that they have a very special treat in store: The view of the two-storey BÖWE SYSTEC stand with its 400 square meters of exhibition space is dominated by a partly covered machine – hinting that a secret is about to be unveiled.

And this secret is none other than "The [re]invention of inserting", as promised by the trade fair motto of the Augsburg-based solution provider. BÖWE SYSTEC has opted for a completely new operating principle with its mysteriously shrouded high-performance inserting system Fusion Cross – the envelope filling process is slowed down overall thanks to harmonization of the processing speeds, thus allowing much more time for the actual inserting. This flowing concept provides greater process reliability than all other solutions commonly found on the market to date, enhancing availability to a significant extent. In line with the Single Machine Type Strategy (SMTS), the Fusion Cross can handle almost all applications tackled in mailroom and service centers and cover virtually all applications, offering calculable production to boot.

"The previous technology comes up against performance limits where challenges of this nature are involved. That is why we have introduced this new process which allows everything to flow, is much kinder to the material and avoids variations in processing speed," says Bernd Höpner, Director Product Development at BÖWE SYSTEC. The Fusion Cross boasts maximum processing speeds of 16,000 insertions per hour for C4 and 22,000 insertions per hour for formats up to B5. It is operated simply and intuitively via touchscreen, thanks to a completely new interface and user guidance.

Marathon - Ready for a wide variety of applications

BÖWE SYSTEC will also be showing trade fair visitors the current generation of the Marathon, a high-performance inserting system capable of handling a wide variety of applications and materials without unnecessary system stops or lengthy changeover times. Processing up to 20,000 envelopes per hour, the Marathon provides optimum output while offering flexible enclosure processing and an impressive filling thickness of up to 12 millimeters. The system on show at drupa is equipped with an EPOD (Envelope Print On Demand) module for four-color envelope printing, providing the basis for effective advertising measures.

Orbiter cross-product software platform

Another milestone to be presented by BÖWE SYSTEC at drupa 2012 is the Orbiter software platform, which can be used across the mailroom as a control center for a wide variety of different machines and processes. It is based on the app principle: Small programs or apps for the various mailroom functions can be assembled in line with individual requirements and entered into the Orbiter, thus allowing navigation via a common interface.The open principle of the Orbiter gives partner companies the opportunity to offer their software products on this platform. This is the first time that the mailroom workflow has been able to be structured and handled without switching between different software products. "Orbiter breaks the power of ever more complex software solutions. The apps provide small slices of functionality which can be navigated to suit the customer's individual workflow," explains Heiner Kudrus, CEO of BÖWE SYSTEC GmbH. "The customer is the one who decides which function modules are required for the workflow in question. With the Orbiter concept, functions that are not required do not have to be paid for."

Flexi Plus sealer - Prepared for mailing without insertion

The BÖWE SYSTEC product range presented at drupa 2012 is rounded off by the Flexi Plus sealer, a high-performance self-mailer which allows documents to be prepared for mailing without insertion. Its unique sealing technology enables both glue-coated paper and blank paper printed with a toner edge to be sealed with the help of heat and pressure – all at speeds of up to 12,500 sheets per hour.

Turbo Black - Small, fast and attractive

In addition to revolutionary new products, industry experts can witness proven technology in live operation at the BÖWE SYSTEC stand. The inserting specialist will be exhibiting the new Turbo Black from its proven Turbo range. The smallest of the high-speed systems, it boasts a particularly tiny footprint of about 12 square meters and a throughput rate of up to 26,000 envelopes per hour – all at an unbeatable price. The Turbo Black is configured so as to be able to process the majority of mailpieces – in the smallest space, at great speed and with maximum integrity.
