CHILI Publish
04.04.2012
CHILI Publish (the company) has made unparalleled progress in a relatively short amount of time on CHILI Publisher (the product). We feel this is largely due to our unique focus. We have a clearly defined idea of what CHILI Publisher should grow towards, and any activities which don’t actively bring us closer to those goals are considered a waste of our resources. And while our development and roadmap is greatly influenced by customers, partners and prospects (in that order of importance), there too we keep these goals in mind. One of our core requirements for CHILI Publisher as a product is that it can be used in a large amount of workflows and sectors as an engine for online document creation. While we have extensive knowledge of many of the workflows involved (web2print, magazine publishing, packaging, ...), we feel it would be a mistake to focus on individual workflows ourselves. Rather, we provide the necessary tools and let partners or customers integrate the CHILI engine inside external workflows or applications. Next to an extensive feature set, ease of use and a high degree of flexibility, we also believe that a successful product requires a licensing model on which our customers and partners can build a profitable business. A competitive price point is a given in that regard, but we also aim to be as transparent as possible in our licensing model. No usage fees, no limitations on amounts of users, environments, output. But also: no custom development necessary by ourselves. We provide you with the tools to do the development yourself (or using your partners), if needed. In other ways you won’t have to rely solely on the availability of CHILI Publish. Templates or documents, for example, are created and managed using your own resources. Unique Features By focussing fully on creating an engine for online document editing, CHILI Publish has succeeded in creating a tool which contains (to the best of our knowledge) a large variety of features which are at a minimum exceptional, but often also completely unique. Just a few example: Unprecedented control over the Editor interface without the need for programmingSupport for Paragraph and Character StylesBaseline Grid alignmentTexts in shapes, and an editor for those shapes (including bezier points) Reusing design elements in the form of SnippetsAlternate Layouts, allowing a singleset of design elements (including content) to be reused on multiple page sizesA large variety of ways to incorporate content of external applications, without development on the CHILI side (assets, product information, datasources, ...) And much, much, much more.
