Resins and formulation additives

Joncryl® is a broad range of high-value, high-performance, water-based polymers for the printing ink and overprint varnish market.

Laromer®, Lucirin® and Irgacure® high-performance binding agents and photoinitiators allow emission-free energy curing of printing inks and overprint varnishes. BASF's specialty range of resins for solvent-based inks, Acronal®, Laroflex® and Lutonal®, are key components of liquid packaging inks for gravure and flexo printing on flexible films and foil, providing adhesion and flexibility. The Laropal® range, which provides pigment wetting properties, is compatible with a large number of other resins.

Efka® formulation additives include high-performance dispersants for solvent-based and energy-curable applications, as well as defoamers and surface modifiers.

Pigments

BASF offers a large and specialized portfolio of pigments , including Lithol® , Irgalite® , Sico® and Heliogen® for all types or printing ink. Irgazin® , Paliotol® , Cromophtal® and Paliotan® pigment ranges are designed for high-performance applications requiring high resistance to temperature fluctuations and chemicals, exterior durability, transparency or special shades.

Metasheen ® pigments give special metallic and mirror-like effects in high-value applications such as fine food and beverage labels, and cosmetic packaging. Xymara® Quicksilver “ready-to-use” metallic inks are designed for gravure and serigraphic printing. Merlin® , Magnapearl® , Firemist® and Dynacol® pearlescent pigments allow a broad choice of iridescent and color travel effects, providing wide scope for the formulation of printing inks and overprint varnishes, particularly in combination with Irgazin® and Cromophtal® transparent pigments, Orasol® , Neozapon® and Fanal® dyes , and Microlith® pigment preparations.
