Alpha/Alpha Multi
28.03.2012

With over 170 installations worldwide, the award-winning Alpha is Edale’s compact flexographic printing press. With so much success but a higher demand in the market place, we have now also added the ‘Multi’ to our range. The Alpha Multi has all the benefits of the original Alpha including the same short web path and quick job change, yet features two ‘stacks’ and can print up to 9 colours in a footprint of just 5m². The unique twin stack arrangement has the added benefit of allowing one stack to be in production whilst the second is being made-ready.

The Alpha Multi can be purchased as an upgrade to an existing Alpha or as a brand new press. The Alpha and Alpha Multi are both capable of converting a wide variety of label, packaging and ticketing substrates and are available with an extensive range of options designed to enhance their already high specifications.

Both presses offer all the benefits of a conventional modular press but at a fraction of the price, making both machines ideal for those new to the flexographic process, as well as companies looking for improved productivity and profitability from today’s short run lengths.

Features and Benefits:

250mm web width

Compact design of just 2.5m² (Alpha) and 5m² (Alpha Multi)

Short web path of less than 12m (Alpha) and 23m (Alpha Multi) minimises material waste

Quick job change through ease of access, ergonomic design and ‘tool-less’ operation.

Modular design ensures that a wide range of value added options can be retro-fitted

Material calliper adjustment provides the ability to run a wide range of label, packaging and ticket substrates from 50-250 micron

Three nip tension control ensures excellent registration stability

UV or water based ready

Die conversion kits ensure that almost all press manufacturers’ tooling can be used

Gamma
28.03.2012

The Edale Gamma is a fully servo driven flexographic printing and converting system combining the finest print quality with innovative features ensuring high speed changeovers, minimum downtime and minimum wastage.

This, combined with the revolutionary print head design, ensures job change times and setup wastage are kept to a minimum with the ability to perform a print head colour change in under 1 min 30 seconds.

The Gamma’s ‘Plug & Play’ converting section allows the user to swap in and out of different converting, laminating, winding or printing options to facilitate the production of added-value products.

Features and Benefits

Web widths of 430mm or 510mm

Fully servo driven

Shaftless technology gives ultimate control over web handling, printing and converting

Pit Stop Colour Change: less than 1 min 30 secs

Pre-register system locates print cylinders in register before any substrate is used

Inking and impression ‘strike’ feature allows print station to be set up with minimal material waste

On-press colour management allows ink pan to be removed while print head is fully set up

Job storage – allows production settings to be stored and recalled in the future

‘Plug and Play’ converting ensures flexibility and upgradeability

AGFA :Dotrix Modular
28.03.2012

The :Dotrix Modular combines AGFA’s single pass inkjet technology with Edale’s traditional printing and converting expertise, to deliver a truly industrial and reliable digital solution. This modular approach means that the machine configuration is flexible and can incorporate a wide range of traditional technologies that include, but are not limited to; flexographic printing and coating, lamination, foiling, die cutting and slitting.

Digital print is achieved using the latest single pass UV inkjet technology. Up to 6 colour bars containing drop on demand piezo inkjet heads are mounted in a fixed array across the web, and each head delivers up to 8 levels of greyscale to maximise image quality. UV inkjet provides excellent ink adhesion to a wide range of substrates including paper, film and board, as well as delivering strong, resilient and light fast colours. Available with CMYK + OV colour bars the :Dotrix print engine covers 90% of the pantone colours.

The combination of traditional flexographic printing technology with single pass UV inkjet means that a wide range of products can be printed and converted. Popular applications include: flexible packaging, folding carton, point of sale/purchase and labels.

Features & Benefits

Substrate input – jumbo unwind system can handle rolls of up to 1.25m diameter, weighing up to 800kg providing long uninterrupted print runs.

Flexographic printing station – mounting a traditional flexo plate gives endless combinations of flexo white or spot and metallic colours with digital printing on top.

SPICE printing unit – the Single Pass Inkjet Colour Engine six or four colour is the digital heart of the engine, a stationary array of inkjet heads across the web up to 63cm wide.

Low migration Ink :Agorix LM, specifically for the packaging market featuring six colour printing (CMYK, Orange & Violet) alongside very accurate reproduction of up to 90% Pantone® colours with AGFA’s own :Agorix UV-curable inks.
