ImpressionProof
20.04.2012

PrintSpec software will be available with a new module called ImpressionProof

On press comparative proofing and remote print approval are now possible thanks to new ground breaking colour management technology pioneered by Mellow Colour Ltd.
For printers wishing to match previous print runs or the ISO Standard - ImpressionProof is a big step forward.
For clients who require a visual comparative proof of how a job is printing without leaving their office - ImpressionProof is the ideal tool.
With the the Adobe PDF engine at its core providing geometric accuracy, and with the Adobe colour management module 'inside', colour fidelity is assured.

InkSpec
20.04.2012

InkSpec is a comprehensive colour management system addressing
the need for systematic, measurable production control of special and
brand colours.
Quality control for brand and special colours
Work with your ink supplier to optimise your ink set
Identify performance consistencies on differing stocks
Quantify Dryback colour shifts
Adopt a systematic, measurable approach to Spot colours
In today’s printing industry where competition is fierce, quality, speed
and cost can all determine success. Requirements for the accurate
reproduction of spot and special colours is increasing, especially for
packaging and specialist printers whose jobs often run outside the
CMYK colour gamut.
InkSpec is a colour quality system from Mellow Colour that addresses
the need for greater control and the production of consistent, accurate
and measurable print in this arena.

LinkSpec
20.04.2012

LinkSpec
LinkSpec is a secure portal that allows printers and customers to exchange
colour data and print run reports.
Customers (typically brand managers, publishers, retailers and print managers)
can place print specifications and colour definitions in their own web space so
that suppliers with the correct access rights can download them for production
purposes. Printers in turn can upload print run reports for customer approval
creating a streamlined communication dialogue.
Print run and proof reports can include colour metrics, images and user comments
so that the exchange of technical data is unambiguous and immediate.
Real time print run approval without the expense of travel and time involved in
press passing is the objective.
Time saving and speeding up the approval process will reduce overall job costs,
improve the financial outcome and prevent problems before they become expensive.
It is for instance, quite common for an exact brand colour to be impossible
to achieve on a particular customer specified substrate. The printer can in
this case upload a report before starting the print run to get customer approval
for the non-conformance.
Improved and faster communication between customer and suppliers using a
system based on measurement will make the printing process more attractive to
customers and more profitable for printers. Access to the print approval process
and technical data online will ultimately reduce the need to travel to approve
colours, resulting in a positive environmental impact.

PrintSpec

PrintSpec Key Benefits:

ISO 12647 Colour control & verification software
Standardised print appearance job to job, press to press
Shorten make-ready times, reduce waste and match proofs
ISO 12647 – a common objective for Printers and Clients
PrintSpec allows you to match your print to ISO 12647 – a common objective for Printers & Clients, or any other international or in house standard. Improving colour consistency in you organization while reducing make-ready times & waste, PrintSpec is the ideal tool for colour professionals with an interest in producing high quality print complying with the targets and tolerances of ISO 12647.
PrintSpec allows Printers to generate comprehensive ISO 12647 pass/ fail reports generated from the small press control strip placed along with production CMYK printed work.
Printers requiring a system for straightforward ISO verification will need PrintSpec software plus a spectrophotometer for measuring the PrintSpec strip. A variety of popular spectophotometers are supported.

PrintSpec presents the data in a visual, easy to understand summary page, with the ability to go into more depth information on other pages. The summary page includes information on ISO 12647 pass/fail information about the CMY inks, the overprinted colours, the Dot Gain (TVI) and Grey balance. A quantifiable BPIF standard ‘percentage of ISO Excellence’ scoring system is built in.

The targets and tolerances of ISO 12647-2, 3, 4, SWOP and GRACol are selectable from pull down menus, and custom in house standards can be generated for special applications.

Rabbit Scanner
20.04.2012

Speeding up make ready times and reducing waste materials is something that had become increasingly important to printers as run lengths have come down over the past few years.

The trend towards reduced run lengths plus the customer expectation of standardised colour appearance have put economic pressures on printers - some have improved the efficiency of their process by investing in new high speed presses with more automated setup, and others have invested in the people that use the equipment so that they can get the best from their existing machines.

One of the most cost effective ways of improving press utilisation is investing in on press measuring equipment.

However not all printers require or can afford the high performance strip scanning instruments such as the Xrite Intellitrax and the Techkon SpectroDrive.

In response to this requirement Mellow Colour have developed the Rabbit Scanner.

It’s fast, affordable and will reduce a typical make ready time by about ten minutes.

The Rabbit scans strips patch sizes down to 5mm and is more than accurate enough for most applications.

The Mellow Colour FlatLine software displays Density adjustment to Standard or MinDelta, plus DeltaE at each ink key - additional reports are available for ISO 12647 compliance, Grey balance, Special Colour and Dot gain analysis.

The Rabbit scanner is available in widths to suit all popular printing machines.
