Subject to the coat weight and application Delpro offers direct, reverse and offset gravure coaters or a multi gravure coater offering all three modes.

Many advanced features are incorporated allowing extreme accuracy of coating and ease and speed of operation, particularly roll changes, change of coating width and change of coating mix.

Rolls are pneumatically loaded against each other with a precision gap setting system with micrometer, backlash-free control adjusted by hand wheel or servo motor.Rubber covered offset or backing roll based upon a sleeve system to enable a change of coating width to be made within minutes.All rolls are independently driven to enable relative speeds of the rolls to be varied for coating quality and small weight adjustment with motors housed on a separate drive frame and connected via quick release Cardon-type couplings.Coating is applied to the gravure roll via Delpro carbon fibre doctor blade or open pan with trailing blade.

Ecograv was the first adjustable trailing blade doctor chamber developed for applications such as reverse gravure coating and gravure printing where a reverse angle will not doctor efficiently.

Comprising a fully adjustable, oscillating enclosed doctor chamber with a volume of only 0.7 litre/metre of width made from corrosion free, lightweight carbon fibre, it enables cleaner, cheaper and faster, high quality printing, with reduced ink wastage. The enclosed chamber means reduced solvent evaporation resulting in a cleaner, safer working environment.

A fully adjustable trailing blade maintains an angle ± 25° even while printing, and micrometer adjustment of blade position to gravure roll accommodates change in gravure roll repeat length. A variable speed cam action air motor provides oscillation of the chamber to prevent preferential wear and build up of particles.

Chamber removal and guaranteed repeatable replacement is made easy by a two-point location of the chamber mounting system. A pneumatic blade throw on/off is also provided.
