GEW Mini Laboratory Unit
13.04.2012

The GEW Mini Laboratory Unit is a robust, well-specified, stand-alone bench top UV curing unit for laboratory or low volume production environments. CAD designed, the unit is manufactured to the highest construction standards using extruded aluminium sections and a stainless steel mesh belt. With constant UV lamp power, the curing dosage is simply controlled by varying the belt speed. An effective air-cooling system keeps the whole unit cool even after many hours of continuous operation at full speed. All parts are guaranteed for 12 months.

The hCP System
13.04.2012

The hCP lamphead was conceived as a simple yet powerful watercooled UV solution for presses in the range of 10” – 22”. The compact design enables it to be fitted to the majority of narrow-web presses and Its advanced reflector design gives it the highest UV output of all GEW’s compact heads. For applications where a high lamp power is not required, the need for additional air-cooling is eliminated.

Key Features
Long-term reliability and leak proofing have been achieved through a low component count and the elimination of moving water-cooled parts. The shutter, deployed when the press stops, uses ceramic insulation technology rather than water-cooling to protect the substrate against heat from the lamp.

hCP-HP
For the most demanding of curing applications, up to 200 W/cm of curing power is available. Additional heat and ozone extraction is achieved by using an external fan to draw a small amount of air through the lamphead, supplementing the water-cooling. As all of this air passes over the lamp, only a small airflow is required.

1) 'Cold Shutter'.

2) Water channels.
3) Fully focussed UV.

4) Quartz window.

hCP-LP
Due to its efficient reflector design, hCP-LP is capable of running the majority of narrow web print jobs with only 140 W/cm, delivering considerable energy savings to printers. Running the lamp at lower power brings with it a reduced cooling requirement, dispensing with the need for air extraction cooling. As a result the system’s operation is silent, which significantly reduces noise levels in the print room. A quartz plate across the curing aperture encloses the lamp and minimises ozone production and the ingress of contaminants. The lamp, reflector and working parts are therefore kept in pristine condition and at peak performance.

AIR CONSUMPTION
In plants where the ambient air is heated or cooled, substantial costs can be incurred from cooling the UV lamps by air extraction. hCP-HP minimises this expense through frugal use of air, and the hCP-LP eliminates it completely.

e-Brick POWER SUPPLY
A high voltage, low current power supply results in lower losses within the lamp and long lamp life. The high frequency, square wave output also delivers up to 20% more UV to the web, further contributing to the efficiency of the hCP system.
