Novel was established since 1976 in Taichung, the capital city of the shoe industry in Taiwan.  From the very start, the company specilized in Goodyear Welted Footwear and exported mostly to U.S.A.

From 1989 to 1993, Novel handled all Caterpillar supply worldwide, on an O.E.M. basis, for Good Year Welted boots for the appointed AMerican Licensee.  Following a switch of licensee appointment to Wolverine group, Caterpillar business was lost and NOVEL has to find new business avenues as from January 1994.

Decision was then taken to compement our working boots with a range of cemented casuals and outdoor products on O.D.M. basis for major European retailers.  At the same time we also developed our own brand " Woodworld" which today is sold worldwide in over 15 countries through appointed exclusive distributors.

With our long experience in Good Year Welted products, we felt natural to engage ourselves in Safety footwear and our products have successfully passed European Economic Community tests and obtained full certification CE-EN 345-1, SB, SBP, and S3.

In order to respond to the ever increasing demand for new development, we opened our own Development/ Sample Center facility in Hou Jie (Guang Dong province, China).  This new development tool allowed us to reduce the time lag for opening new equipments( lasts, molds, new patterns) and to respond much more quickly to customer's requirements. Development and salesmen samples can be mass-produced using regular factory equipment.

We changed our company name from Novel Worldwide Trading Co Ltd. to Novel Shoes Co Ltd in 2003, because we are a service company that offers original own conceived collections to customers and work very closely with them for their own collections most of the time at our Hou Jie development center.

Novel employees are totally dedicated to service our customers with innovative products, at reasonable price, quality production and on-time delivery.

We take pride in being a total concept service company that takes care of all customer's needs from product creation to delivery to the warehouse. Although the company's name has changed, the team behind novel's success is still the same.
